I think due the parting blade being a trapezium section it wouldnt work very well upside down.

Thanks for the pictures clive, as they say a picture says a thousand words. I have found a supplier on ebay for the eclipse blades in the correct size so I will purchase one of those.

HI, I have a Boxford lathe with a T0 size Dickson tool holder set up. When I put a blade in the part off tool holder the blade tips over at the top. I'm thinking I may need the correct type of part off blade as the one I have at the minute is rectangular in section?

Here is a pic, excuse the quality of the photo but I think you can see the problem. Any advice appreciated.

I recently got one of Arc Euro Trades screwless vices, it is excellent value for money. Its well made and works very well.

Hi folks, I have a Boxford 11-30 lathe and would like to get a reducing bush for the spindle, and Boxford want a small fortune for it.

The spec is No.4.5 ASA.B5.10 bush (machined down, internally, to a No. 3 Morse taper) as taken from the lathes.co.uk website. Does anyone know where I can get one or can anyone the actual dimensions of the bush I need?

Hi Dave, thanks for your input. It looks like the one from Arc is going to be my choice due to its wide opening ability.

Hi George, does the 4" precision type 2 vice have lugs on the body to bolt it to the machine table?

Hi Norman, at the minute all I have is a clamping set, and sometimes it would be plain handy to have a fairly versatile vice, especially for those jobs that dont require highly accurate results. My main worry with the cheaper vices is jaw lift, that is really what I'm aiming to avoid.

Thanks for the reply Jason, the K4 looks decent but seems the jaw opening is very restricted at 62mm? Do you find that to be an obstacle?

Hi folks, I am after a vice to go with my old Axminster ZX 25 Milling machine. Ideally, I am after something with a decent jaw opening, over 100mm, without costing the earth (obviously) and that has a decent grip.

Budget is probably about £100, this is going to be a gift from someone so cant dictate the price too much if at all.So far I have seen the Axminster Accu-Lock 5" here **LINK**

And the Precision Tool Vice 100mm wide from Arc Euro Trade as seen here **LINK**

Which would you guys go for out of these two? If you have any other suggestions please let me know.

Hi folks, I may have the opportunity to trade my Myford S7 lathe for a Boxford 11.30 Industrial lathe. I am not particularly familiar with these Boxfords so if anyone has one, or has experience with one it would be great to hear what you think of it.

At present I'm not sure if it is single or three phase. If it is three phase I would need to purchase a VFD to run it. If it is three phase it should have a 1.5hp (1.1kW) motor, do I just need to get a 1.5hp VFD or do I need to go higher?

Any advice/ info about these lathes is welcome.

Just as an update, wiring the motor/switch combo as per the instructions worked once the two links were removed. Now I just need to get the on/off starter as advised.

Clive, there is no wiring diagram under the cover of the motor, so I will just remover the links and see how it goes.

John, I have the original Myford book, but a PDF copy would be great for reference, will message you my email address.

Thanks to everyone else for their input/help. I will get hold of a dol most likely and use that. The Dewhurst switch I have is new and unused so it ould be a shame to ruin it.

I'm not sure about it being wired for 3-phase. If I connect a single phase supply to the motor (Neutral to terminal A & Live to terminal AZ) the motor runs.
