Was working on an auto's brakes yesterday and one of the hold down springs went ping into the great unknown. I have a couple of magnets mounted on a short board. We went every where within a 30' circle with no joy. Told the Wife I was going into town to buy a replacement kit for $30. Started to go out the front door and here She came in holding the spring. She put the tools in the trunk and slammed the lid and heard something drop on the gravel and found it. We both looked under the car before and did not see it. Thankful. |

The almost empty ink cartridge included with a new printer is no urban myth here, buying commercially refilled cartridges is also worthless as 2 of them have been empty, 2 out of 2 for a loss. One store made it right, another did not. Switching to a laser printer when these cartridges are spent. |

Our house was all closed up,windows and doors. Walked into a closed bedroom and had a bat with around a 9-10" wing span flapping around. Had to get the Wife as I cannot jump on and off the bed fast enough to have an effective pursuit. How it got in We never have figured out. Have 5 cats now so no repeat. |

If You could look at Robin Renzetti's Repeat-0-meter it looks similar. It can have myriad uses. Please delete. Edited By mark costello 1 on 17/06/2020 00:17:42 |

I am just cleaning up the Mother lode. 1 cabinet size compo printer weighs about 150 lbs. 4 regular printers. Net result? About 100 lbs of steel scrap, about 5 pounds of copper, about 5 pounds of steel shafts. About 100 "C" clips to put with the other couple of hundred. Couple of dozen small shafts. And a few hours of cheap entertainment. The motors are all stripped whilst watching the Telly at night. What ever it brings is all profit. Wifey knows I've lost it years ago, so no surprises there. |

All of Us probably know how much machinery and tools have appreciated in the last 20 years or so, these might be a good investment for the future. Worth a punt although I am not planning to fill up the back forty to find out. Use them, take care of them, and enjoy them. Till You break a drill bit or a tap off and have to invent new words. |

I also use something similar over here, works well, but 2 caveats, I had to plug a hole that had wandered into another hole. When the repair metal melted it seemed to concentrate the heat into the main part and it ran into the adjacent hole requiring a steel rod inserted to keep the other hole open. This was using a propane torch so not enough imput to melt a piece of Aluminum 7/8"x1"x 4" long. Once something is repaired with this rod it evedentally cannot be TIG welded. |
