Thread: Centec 2b y axis
10/03/2021 01:47:04

Duncan,

I am away from home for possibly another two months, so I can take pics then when I get back. From memory I joined a ballscrew to a stub shaft to replicate the original screw and made an adaptor for the ball nut to screw onto that fitted into the casting like the original nut did, I also added needle bearing thrust washers to the stub shaft. I had to space out the mounting flange casting from the y casting by 10mm to get it all to fit. I have a feeling I lost a small amount of y travel but not much. My ballscrew nut had a threaded end on it not a flange type like most seem to be so I think that made it easier.

Thread: Chinese Bridgeport BT 30 spindles
23/06/2020 19:53:21

My Mill drill head uses the same bearings set as a Bridgeport, going on the rough dimensions provided by the sellers the spindle is the same length between bearings and very similar else where, the splines may be different dia depending on how the sellers have measured them.

Thread: milling crankshaft on cnc mill using A axis
22/06/2020 22:22:15

Martin,

thanks for the reply! I do understand that bit now! Not sure if I am able to edit the program to auto move it to the next crankpin it all gets beyond me! Will try and do a Seal 15cc crank in aluminium to manually moving to the next crankpin and see how it goes. I have a V8 crank I want to do that would be nice if I can cnc it

thanks

Thread: Chinese Bridgeport BT 30 spindles
22/06/2020 10:03:35

Has anyone bought a Chinese eBay BT30 spindle? I am looking at getting one to retrofit in my mill drill to get rid of the mt3 spindle with a few mods. Was wondering what they are like and do they have the recess machined into them to take a pull stud claw. All the suppliers know nothing about them when asked!!

thanks

Thread: Manual control of CNC
22/06/2020 09:37:46

On my cnc mill running mach3 I use a 6 axis hand controller ( like a PlayStation) and a program called key grabber to have the 5 axis's on my machine under control, just plug the hand controller into a USB port, works a treat if I just want to mill something simple.

I am going to try Martins program to see how well it works compared to the one by JS, I have had the JS one working well after I changed the rotation of the a axis.

I am a bit thick most times so would like to know what "pin offset from TDC " means please.
