Thread: What did you do today? (2013)

Hi Neil

The ER25 chuck looks brilliant. I'm not into collet chucks, but always fancied one, home made of course.

Today I have repaired a liquid soap dispenser. Broken plastic lever. Made one out of acetal rod. Some turning, and milling on the ML7. Enjoyed that.

Thread: Can you identify this please?

Hi Bob,

Les J 1 is correct. They were used by the GPO/BT for adjusting the relays. I've got one, maybe two

. Have used it/them to check triggers on rifles. Mine is stamped GEC, paint obscuring the other printing..

As a newcomer to the forum, I think it is brilliant, so many learned & generous people on it. Not to mention J.S's wit.

Beginners questions, I find very interesting, and the answers of course.

Whilst I'm not into model making, more maintenance & making bits for my other hobbies.

My long bed ML7 saw a lot of action & abuse before I had it, forty years ago. It is a real friend.

Maybe I should get out more, as they say..

Good luck & best wishes to all.

Bazyle, Re:

I have nuts + washers on my Hobbymat chucks. Keep dropping a washer in the pile of swarf. Need long nose pliers to get them into position.

Make your nuts & washers magnetic, that should make stick close to home, if you don't like that idea, because of attracting swarf. Use grease.

Hello Everyone, I have just created my first album, please bear with me. Four pictures of the oven rods (Shelf supports). The job didn't turn out as good as Ians', but my customer was very pleased with the results.

Hi Everyone, Thank you all for your input, Coalburner,Grade 304, the other details are in the O.P.

I haven't got welding equip.

Ian, that look like a nice job, that is the way I'll go.

I didn't think I could get a tight enough bend on it without it cracking, not got enough to experiment with.

Regards, Bear..

Help please, Joining two pieces of 10mm stainless steel bar at right angles.

Before you ask, its for a Neff oven. Extra shelf supports, 4 off. They are £35 each plus post & packing. So its a DIY job.

One length is 410mm, and at right angles at one end is a 30mm length.

The original rods have a real sharp 90° bend. I intend to bolt them together using a M4 bolt.

I'm after the neatest configuration. Tools; ML7 & vert slide + it will not beat me.
