it was nothing to do with the money. It was not knowing, and having had an email from Graham saying the parcel was on it's way, which didn't arrive. I tried to contact Graham but he's not reading emails. Looking back at PM's I'd sent him, he's not done so for months.

ive been reading a thread on another forum.

this guy wants to round the corners on a steel block. Which made me think off wood router bits. I used to do quite a bit of woodwork and have a lot of router bits of all shapes. These are carbide tipped, and I was wondering if they could be used in a mill on steel ?

what do the more experience of you think ?

Hi guys.

I'm doing a model engine which uses the same chain as fitted to the 2" Clayton. Supplied by A J Reeves. While fitting the chain, one of the legs on the split link broke . I rang Reeves to buy a couple only to be told that if I want a split link, I'll have to buy a new chain. They don't sell them separately . so could any of you lads know where I might be able to buy one ? Apart from Reeves. As I don't need more chain.

you could make the job easier if you don't mind spending a few quid. Machinemart do a conversion kit to turn a post drill into a mortiser. I think they are around £30 to £40 the last time I looker. Go online to find out.

I would have thought, like Kwil says. Make you're own. Buy the time you've found somewhere that makes them, you could have made your own.

Afraid so, you will have to re solder it, but don't panic. For some reason, the solder on a soldered joint, takes far more heat to melt than new solder. You'll be . Go for it, and don't be afraid of melting the already soldered joint. It can happen. But its unlikely.

I find that I can cope with most machines, although, I did buy an exact saw that I've never managed to use because its for the right hand And I just can't hold the lever down with my left hand, For most of my working life, I was a sewing m/c mechanic which was fine as most sewing m/cs are left handed, but micrometers, scissors and verniers are a problem, why are left handed versions so expensive ? At school, I was constantly being told off for writing so small, but back in the day, when we used soot ink and italic knibs on a stick, if I wrote bigger, it just smudged and no one including me could read it. But, I get by. Yes, sometimes I curse because the things the wrong way round. But hey ho. That's life for lefties.

like Brian, I'm local to SPG ( 18 miles ) and I have bought machines from Simon. As Brian says. Simon is vey helpful and friendly. The machines are very reasonably priced and ready to run when you get it. Like many machines available SPGs are the same, just a different name and colour . I've never had any bother with them. the only thing I've found. Is, if your going over to him, it's best to ring first as he's in and out quite a bit. Usual disclaimer. Just a satisfied customer.

he wouldn't let me use a 'T' piece as that was my first thought. it had to be a totally seperate water feed doing a mechanical feed was a simple enough job. I did think about a second hand pump, but as you say. I'll be spending more time pumping instead of watching where I'd be going lol. And yes, making a mech pump was cheaper than buying another hand pump. + once that's going you can more or less forget about pumping, and play instead.

the main reason for him wanting the size changed was, in his opinion too small to run the engine at a reasonable speed. He said , that the existing pipe would run it, but there would be no oomph to it. And you would get nowhere soon. He also wanted another means off getting water into the boiler. As in another entry point. This was I case the first pump failed. I can understand this on a coal fired engine as you can't just switch the heat off. But this one is gas fired, so any. Such problem. You would just turn the gas off. But a mechanical pump has also now been made and fitted to keep him happy. Now, it's just a case of waiting until mid march to take it back for pressure test part 1.
