I made one awhile back for my four jaw chuck so i could move two jaws at a time, never hardened it at all, just mild steel, works grand. Should i have hardened it? Edited By mark mc on 16/04/2013 16:03:24 |

Some useful tips thanks, should be able to get this sorted now. |
15/04/2013 08:31:43 |
OK thanks all, just to enlighten my post i have a small bench grinder that I'm trying to make a mount for which has three holes at either end for mounting of the to disk guards, I'm going to use them to make a mount to hold the grinder to a shaft so i can raise and lower the wheel/ grinder on a vertical shaft. I'll get some pictures up when I'm finished. Trying to use as many of the shelf bits as possible to keep things easy. |

I know this sounds stupid but how do i work out the diameter of 3 holes to get the pcd that have already been bored into something? We never done anything like this in school so any help would be great. I'm making a mount for a small grinder to make a poor mans tool and cutter grinder. Edited By mark mc on 15/04/2013 08:06:20 |
Thread: Conjunction of Moon and Jupiter |

Not got the must fancy stuff but it works not to bad . The scope is a skywatcher 8inch reflector mounted on a heq5 tracking mount, the camera is a cannon 350d mounted to the scope on a t-ring. Abit hard to focus as can be seen but works ok. those shots were really 10-15 long exposures all stacked one on top of the other. |
12/04/2013 10:04:33 |
I used to try my hand at astrophotography a few years back before children etc. still have my telescope and camera stuff safely tucked away, but here's a few shots i was quite happy with.

Thread: Milling Vice. |

I got the 5 inch one from gloster tooling for my mill, have to say I'm very happy with it. It's not perfect but it didn't cost a grand. There kurt clones and pretty good. The casting is pretty good tho the vice needs a little cleaning etc just to pretty it up. |

Hi all, this might sound like a silly question but what is a good paint for cast iron. I'm making a engineers level from the castings over at ces. I have the machining done but would like to paint the rough parts say green. what's a good paint to stick to cast iron ? Do i need to prime it first. |
