Spare parts/feed conversion

9 forum posts | I have a Harrison universal mill and the cross lead nut is worn. Anybody know where spares might be available - or will I have to machine a tap to make a new one The feed is a seperate motor driven gear box with change wheels - which is a a pain. Anyone converted this to a variable 3 ph speed drive who could give some advice? Jopo

![]() 214 forum posts 24 photos | I have the same machine. I took the feed motor and gearbox off and put a new leadscrew an nut on. Bought from 'Marchantdice'. Of course you lose the power feed so I'm making a feed to fit on the end of the table by using a stepper motor and related gubbins. John |

9 forum posts | Thanks for that John. My bed lead screw is in v. good condition and I would like to try the fitting of a speed control to the feed motor first. My plan would be to fit the fastest gear train and vary that. Would like to know how you get on with your mod - in case! I also intend to find a suitable dro kit but would dearly love to find a sensitive vertical head (if such a beast exists). Jopo |

![]() 214 forum posts 24 photos | Jopo .. Mine ran off a speed control but the backlash was so bad I had to do something about it. It is rather a bulk hanging under the table and feels a lot better now its off. Thanks to 'd'costa' who is a member on here, I've started to make my own power feed. Will put more photos in my albumn as work progresses. John |
