SCAYT!! An old chestnut revisited

I'm probably only creating this post because I have nothing better to do (but I do have really). A few minutes ago I replied to a posting on this forum and SCAYT regarded 'meter' as a spelling error!

Normally I rarely use SCAYT as its more trouble than its worth.

I was using meter in its correct context (as in a Volt meter) so what is going on here?

I have the language set to 'British English' but after a quick check with a few more words it seems to be in US mode. Even in the USA though they do have meters for measuring things.

That seems a very wise choice, Ian.

However: Regarding your "Meter" ... This on-line implementation is interesting, because it sees "Meter" as correct, and "Metre" as a mis-spelling.

As you obviously know ... both are correct [according to context].
