delapena honing machine

I have a delapena speedhone which has a noisy nose bearing and I have been unable to puzzle out how it comes apart. The machine carrys David Brown badging which i think means mid eighties.I spoke to Delapena but just got its old we don't have any details. Can any body advise or E mail me a manual/ exploded diagram.

Hi Steve,

Delapena still exsist as a company in Glostershire you could try them direct alternatively try Tony Griffiths site for a manual at www.lathes.co.uk

Steve,

It may, or may not be representative of the manufactured version, but there is a good sectional drawing in the Patent ... the bearing assembly looks very simple.

Sorry I can't help any further, I let all the manuals go when I sold mine.

That is interesting, George Thomas being a mod eng hero of mine.

Does anyone know any more about his background before he began writing in 'M. E.'?

About thirty years ago when I first got a lathe and began to take an interest in m.e., his writings were a revelation to me. So precise, so unsatisfied with anything but the best, as he saw it.

I spent the first year or more making his VDH etc and I have always been pleased that I did.
