Clarke lathe

i have a clarke metalworker variable speed metal lathe model CL250M PART NUMBER 7610740 RATED POWER 150W 5AMP 100-2000 RPM BATCH 06N. THE OVERLOAD LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT THUS THE LATHE WILL NOT RUN? ho it as a mile on it as well, it will not run ether. power to the lathe but motors will not run, no noise nothing, help.

Rob, First thought is, are all the safety switches, such as chuck guard, switched off- or on- as they need to be.

Usually on these, after overload, if you switch all switches off to reset then you can start it again. But check those safety switches!

Tried the safety switch still nothing, & yes the power from the lathe powers the mill.

I'm more familiar with the sligfhtly larger CL300M and its 'clones'/'cousins'

If overload light is always on, is there a reset switch you need to press?

The manual is available on line from Machine Mart & Clarke.

I note that the power light is before the fuse - is it possible it is the power not overload light that is on and the fuse is blown?.

Has the microswitch on the chuck guard moved? This can happen on some lathes and stops you starting them.

If power cycling does not clear the overload fault it is possible that if the overload trip is a self-resetting current sensor, then the sensor has failed in some way. Someone who has electronic expertise may be able to check/replace it for you.

Can you hear the microswitch on the chuck guard click when you open/close the guard. If not, then this is where the problem is likely to be, as suggested by Neil.
