I am in the process of building a static 3 phase convertor and would like to have the motor on a plug. The 415V 3P + earth connectors as used in industry are cheap but are huge!. The Amphenol ones are a reasonable size but cost about £50 for each half!! Anyone got any suggestions for a more acceptable alternative?

Huge they may well be, but they are built for the job and you would be well advised to use the standard proper fittings.

Try Googling 3 Phase connectors and you will see socket and plug for about £15. 00

single plugs about £9.00, perfectly adequate for what you want Frank.
