Has anyone tried modifying the length of the digital linear scales on sale from arc euro trade?

If I trim one of the bars will it still work?

Many thanks

Hubert

Hi Hubert

Welcome to the forums.

It should work (I have shortened bars in the past) but clean of any burrs or flash so the copper tracking sandwiched between two insulating layers isn't shorted to the bar.

Hi Hubert

Yes - THIS is from the ARC catalogue. I've done it but, if I remember correctly, they are pretty tough!

Cheers

Norman

Hi Hubert,
I have also cut digital calipers using an angle grinder. I just cut a small way through at a time allowing it to cool between each cut. This prevents damage to the printed circuit board which is fixed to the bar.

Les.
