329 forum posts 193 photos | Hello all, I am restoring a vintage 5 hp Petter m type engine built in 1922, I have done an extensive overhaul including , new cyl liner, white metal main bearings, piston rings, reground crank, little end bearing etc, etc. I have to make a new gudgeon pin, do you think a nice piece of silver steel would be OK, or should I use something like EN16, the diameter is 1", I have a piece of silver steel that fits the piston perfectly, a nice push fit, and the last inch taps home nicely with a soft hammer, so it would be nice to use it if possible, What do you all think ? Richard. |
