4 forum posts | Hi There
I seem to remember seeing on this site once that you could download all the constuction articles for Martin Evans' Springbok design. Am I correct and if so can it still be done? I am a subscriber and can get past issues but can't find these articles. Thanks for any help.
Regards

I am building a Thompson B1 from martin's drawings and have a complete set of the articles you refer to. What part of the country are you in as you have nothing in your profile. I could not part with the originals as they are Bristol SMEE property and date to around 1966 but would have to go into the workshop to confirm that.
Are you building one at present and how far have you got because like most drawings there are errors.
There is also a nice site that has indexed every article ever written since vol1
will send this info later as now have to go and get ready to earn my bacon butties.
Regards

4 forum posts | Hi Bob
Thanks for the reply. I am in Doncaster area so a bit far from you. I aquired some parts a few years ago but due to ill health and other things have been delayed, but now want to get cracking. Have got laser cut frames and most castings. I feel quite confident that I can proceed without the articles but just wondered what pearls of wisdom I would be missing. Yes, I have heard there are errors on the drawings, the first I will tackle is the frame cutout needs enlarging for the blowdown valve. If you compare the drawings against the works drawing you can see that Springbok is not a scale model, but it is a good working design. Therefore I will build it as ME designed it and just make cosmetic adjustments to the visible parts such as valve guides, motion brackets, footplate support brackets etc.
I have a lot of detail photos taken of 61264 whilst running on the NYMR (actually whilst it was stood still as it was safer). Then some more at Barrowhill where the boiler is removed (I was able to put my head through the said frame cutout to look inside the frames).
Would you happen to be the same Springbok that posts on Model Engineering Clearing House, I've learnt a lot from there but only just joine this forum.
Regards
