That a very nice engine you''ve built Ian some interesting features, was it built from bar stock or castings?, is it your own design or did you follow published plans.

Reeves do the castings for the single and Twin.

Just checked it out it always amazes me at the cost of castings, I try to avoid their use where I can.
 
I'd like to do a similar build but using corless valves but havn't yet figured out how to model them in a suitable scale.

I'm sure you could fabricate it Stew, I know the engine was covered in an old ME so the drawings are likely to be in there.
 
The guy I got my Superba ploughing engine castings from at a very good price also had a set of castings for this engine, PM me if you want his details though they may have gone by now.

i have one of these double tangy mill engines its all built up but i think the govnor needs putting together.
 
the machining is very good and came from the workshop of a well known model maker who i think wrote it up for EIM if anyone is intrerested in the engine them please email me
 
 
im not looking for a great amount for the engine or would be willing to swop for some castings for a model oil engine

Its Tangye with an 'E'. Lemons are 'tangy'!
 
Does anyone know the Tangye engine in the Black Country Museum? I swear the governor is on the exhaust, eitehr that of the slide valve works back to front.
 
I'd love to take it apart and see.
