3 forum posts 1 photos | Hello! I`m needing some help with reassembling my Myford Super7 apron. For cleaning purposees I disassembled the whole apron when one washer fell out somewhere. Most likely it was the one that sits on the stud gear cluster, between the bevel gear cluster and the apron housing itself. That´s what it looks like when compared with the picture in the manual. However, I don`t get it fit in there with the bevel pinion in it`s place or I do not get the bevel gear cluster in place with the washer together. If you go into my photos, I do point with the tip of the screwdriver on the mentioned washer. Is there anybody to give me a hint? Does the washer belong there and/or any suggestions why I don`t get in properly reassembled? Thank you! Regards, Detlef |

3681 forum posts 70 photos | Detlef, The thrust washer part number A9202 does go between the bevel gear and the apron body. Is the oilite bush which is within this first bevel gear, pressed fully home so as to be flush level with the widest face of the gear? Make sure that the matching bevel pinion and its "oilite" bush are correctly placed tightly against the housing. Regards K |

3681 forum posts 70 photos | Detlef, Have you tried withdrawing the Stud-Gear Cluster part no. A9203/1 so that it does not get in the way, place the bevel gear on top of the thrust washer and try sliding sideways into mesh? When in mesh you should be able to fully insert the stud through the washer and bevel gear. You could check the alignment by looking through the stud hole in the main apron casting before attempting to insert the stud. K |

3681 forum posts 70 photos | Detlef, When you get around to it, the alignment of the apron is critical so as to not deflect the leadscrew. With the leadscrew fitted and held at both ends in the normal position, move the carriage to the tailstock end, place a DTI (Dial Indicator) against the leadscrew in the horizontal plane on the fronnt around the mid distance, move the carriage almost up to it and note whether the leadscrew is pushed towards the bed or away, adjust the apron cap head screws into a position where the leadscrew is NOT deflected. Now put the DTI on the top of the leadscew and note whether it is deflected when the half nuts are closed, if it is, adjust the Eccentric Sleeve, Part No. 10529 to such a position that this deflection does not occur. Hope this helps. K |
