I was delighted to see that issue 179 is accessible on the iPad ... all previous issues require "Flash".

Unfortunately my delight was short-lived: because the Zoom feature only allows access to the right hand page of each double spread [and the iPad's gesture zoom isn't implemented].

If anyone can offer a workaround, or tell me what I'm doing wrong, please respond.

Thanks
MichaelG.

The new viewer uses flash as well.

I have just tried looking at issue 179 using IE, for which I do not have flash installed. It just gave an error screen saying I need to install flash player.

Maybe the lack of flash on the iPad is still causing you problems?

Thanks for that ... there must be something really strange going on, because the iPad [which, as you know, doesn't use Flash] opens issue 179 as a "book".

when you first open issue 179 on an ipad there is a box telling you "swipe your finger across the pages to browse the publication or double tap on a page to zoom in" works for me ok on iPad 1. I found that the "zoom" feature only works for the last last selected ( double tapped ) page. So if you selected / double tapped the left page only left pages will be zoomed with the zoom feature, if you had selected / double tapped the right page then only right pages will zoom. I find it works ok to swipe through to browse and then double tap on the page I want to zoom.

Interesting, thanks for the heads up.

Up to now I've been printing the mag to pdf on a PC and then transferring the pdf to the iPad and reading it with iBooks. I just tried this direct method and at first glance, I think I still prefer the pdf route....mostly because it will fill a vertical screen with a single (full) page which is readable (just) without zooming (you can still zoom in if you need to).

When I tried the direct method I either got a full page that only filled half the screen or I got part of a page when I zoomed. Admittedly though, I only tried for a few minutes so I may be missing something.
