Look at here http://www.cav-escarbille.com/escarbille/dernier.htm but almost exclusively devoted to live steam loco, large and small scale and linked to an association of live steam enthusiasts (C.A.V). They sometimes struggle to fill up issues. I'm not a subscriber, too redundant with ME, being near of my loco-limit. Zephyrin |

19 forum posts | Hi Bob, Did you find the magazine. Did you rate it? Does it advertise suppliers of materials? I have great difficulty finding easy-cutting steel and almost any other materials in small quantities here. I resort to College Engineering Supplies in UK. Norman |

2878 forum posts 248 photos | Didn't find the magazine up to it. You could try POLLY ENGINEERING (France)
De Wyn Peter Le Moulin des pauvres Coté Grégois 46330 - Sr Cirq Lalopie My best bet would be to take a drawing round to a small engineering firm, talk about what you are making, and ask if you could raid their scrap bin. You would have to take a chance on what you picked up. Sometimes the bit thrown away has a painted end with the batch number on it.

1294 forum posts 108 photos 1 articles | Well you know if you live anywhere in France (excluding colonies) then you can drive to anywhere in the UK within two or three days, so castings should be no problem at all, provided you want a British prototype of course. Try shipping them across the world to NZ or Australia, you are likely to pay as much for shipping as for the bits. Not to mention getting taxed for the shipping costs themselves. There are, or at least were when I was over there ten years back, suppliers on the Continent, mainly Swiss or German, who could supply suitable screws and nuts and other bits in metric sizes for ME purposes. I picked up all sorts of price lists at the Sinsheim show. I realise that for a French speaker, Sinsheim itself and mostly the brochures would be in the wrong language, however when I was there I had about zero German language and I got on fine with folks by taking along a Stuart 10V as a "conversation starter". France has a wealth of interesting engineering history, and it would be great to see some French projects make their way into print.... regards John |

2878 forum posts 248 photos | Any more forum members living over here? I am at the stage of needing to find someone to approve and test my 5" loco boiler and also find some track "local" to me in the LOT region. Regarding track, I will probably start to make some portable stuff during the winter for testing the loco. Bob |

I am at the stage of needing to find someone to approve and test my 5" loco boiler and also find some track "local" to me in the LOT region. If you are confident in your own workmanship and don't feel it needs checking the reason for boiler testing is to acquire insurance to run in public, so finding the insurance would be your first step which might lead you to a suitable tester. A year or so ago it might have been possible to extend testing and insurance from a UK source to cover you in Europe, but I suspect that this has gone the way of many other things with Brexit. |

2878 forum posts 248 photos | Well, its been a while, but my SPEEDY boiler has passed its hydraulic test and once our club has ratified the results, it will pass onto the steam test. If all goes well a certificate should follow later this year. The working pressure is 5.6 Bar (11.2 Bar test pressure). Bob
