What time is it?

It's a kind of spiral clock with 4 hours per revolution...

Well i thought you were clock men---what your looking at is a one handed wall clock weight driven, with pendulum, apparently designed by Benjamin Franklin late 18c,you may notice attached to the minute hand is a pointed finger which retracts into the spherical to denote the hour, these clocks are sometimes described as three wheel type.I was hoping for further information, sorry about picture quality its my first attempt.

But how does the hand reset after 12 hours?

Seems a lot of complexity to add to make up for losing the minute hand!

Hi Neil
Sorry, only just seen your question, upon reaching 12 the pointed hour finger ie the brass one just continous in the same circ;le to 1 o,clock,no reset required, its a bit tricky to describe, but i am sure you get the idea.If you would like the drawings to make there is a book "Clockmaking For The Model Engineer" Thorne,Camden used to stock it.
