Can anyone advise what is the best method of maintaining the high polished sheen which we all work so hard in achieving, only to find some months/days later oxidisation has taken this away and replaced it with a dull yellow tone?
I live in Perth Aust. which is blessed with a warm dry climate, but others in the cooler northern hemisphere contries must be faced with this problem on a somewhat larger scale.

This is one of the issues in the digital archive and may be accessed here I am unclear whether you have to be a subscriber to do so. |

Thanks for your response, I have tried laquer, but only from a pressure can, slightly warmed the can in hot water prior to spraying (local advice from a paint supplyer??). The result was the finest impersonation of orange peel one has ever seen.
My thoughts are now to try spraying automotive laquer from an air brush after first slightly warming the brass components.
Has anyone got any better tried and tested methods?
(Keith, I originate from Guiseley nr. Leeds)
My thoughts are now to try spraying automotive laquer from an air brush after first slightly warming the brass components.
See if you can find a product called 'Rustin's Metal Laquer'. Make sure the temperature is above 15C. (Usual disclaimer)
This is clearer and leaves a better gloss. (I am not originally from Leeds, I was born in London. I know Guiseley well!)
