Just completed this Three cylinder radial derived from the Cygnet Royal, and Elmers Radial engine, with additional design changes.

Thanks for your kind comments, it was a real enjoyable engine to build, if you look on the madmodder.net forum you can follow the build log, just do a search for three cylinder radial and you'll find it.

It uses an orbital valve, I tried taking a video of the valve action with the steam chest cover off but couldn't get the vocus correct. Basicaly what you have is two flats at the end of the crank these engauge with a slot on ta return crank which has an off centre drive pin that drives the orbital valve openening and closeing the valve ports.
