In the search for a replacement chuck for my small lathe (a Flexispeed Mk 2) I am currently considering Chronos options.

I wonder if anyone has any first hand experience (including like/avoid views) of the following two chucks?

NEW- 50mm 3 Jaw Chuck ON A 2 MT or Soba 70mm 3 Jaw Scroll Chuck 14 x 1mm Thread

NEW- 50mm 3 Jaw Chuck ON A 2 MT or
Soba 70mm 3 Jaw Scroll Chuck 14 x 1mm Thread

-------------------------------
I have 2 off 50 mm three jaw chucks and 1 4 jaw
52 mm self centering chuck ,all three are quite well made
and good value ,the 2 three jaw chucks mounted on their
arbors center to within a couple of tenths , look here at the
photo the fit between the jaws when they are closed
all three are the same.
This 80 mm 4 jaw independent chuck seen here also a Soba
chuck from Chronos is very well made.

Chronos is one of my favoured dealers, they are good. I have recently bought two Vevor brand chucks hoping they would be ok, and was pleasently surprised. The 100mm three jaw scroll is much better than it's low price would suggest and the 160mm 4 jaw scroll which I had vowed never to buy is better than expected also. The 160 was even cheaper than normal because the box was damaged, but the usual expanded polystyrene innards fully protected the contents. I cannot afford a 6 jaw chuck.

I have a vice and rotary table from Soba. The best part is the wooden box to store the rotary table.

I must say, that after milling the vice square and adding a stepper to the rotary table, both are still in use for more than 10 years. Considering the price, I got the quality I paid for AND that quality is usable for low demanding hobby use.

My second vice, more expensive but not a brand, also needs some milling to get it square.
I made made my second rotary table (ER32 collet) my self and that is more accurate.
