2 forum posts | I'm trying to find the best place to get flat steel for track, ideally around 1" X 3/8. I don't wan't proper rail as this is to repair and existing railway. Neither can i afford the prices from main dealers. Any suggestions where I might be able to find any flat steel to use as rail? Or any business that might use something like this?
Please can someone help? I can't think of who I can turn to. |

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | When you say main dealers are you talking of Model Engineering suppliers? if so they are likely to be more expensive than a commercial steel stockholder. Metric 25 x 10 would likely be cheaper than imperial these days too. Expect to have to buy 6m lengths |

Brundles I was just to post the same. Strange as it may seem, 25 x 10 (£20.90) is more than 25% more expensive than 25 x 8 (£14.70). It is worth looking up some sizes near the one quoted and see which section size is most economic (maybe 20 x 8 [3/4 x 5/16] would do) |
