Hi, does anyone have any views on the Chester zx milling machine. I have seen one for sale, but worry that given it’s all Chinese electronics, and old ones at that I may find that I have a purchased a very heavy door stop if anything goes bang.
what is too look out for on these machines. Thanks

Hi Michael,

I wouldn't worry too much, these things can always be repaired !

I've had problems with the DC brushed motor on my Chinese clone Optimum mill from new and repaired it at least a dozen times. The electronics only failed once and that was a 20p 5 volt regulator IC where one of the leads corroded through.

I finally sorted the motor by replacing it with a somewhat bigger treadmill one, still using the original controller !

It all comes down to getting it at the right price!

Thanks chaps, the problem is What is the right price. Some of the machines I have looked at in person would have been better as scrap, yet they sold for a lot more then the same machines in good condition sold for a few years back. Dealers want so much money for items they paid some old boy a few pennies for. Like all things in this hobby, it’s all very odd.
