23 forum posts 1 photos | Hello from Cumbria, i've been reading the forums, i'm now considering getting a lathe, as a nebie to this i have lots of questions on the lathe and tools available as it's and old English mini lathe the simat 101, i've already read some posts on the lathe in question but none have the information about the diameter of round bar that can be held in the chuck. I'm not sure if to post my question here or in the questions section, I'd like to have a go at making some watch makers mainspring winders out of brass, they range in diameter from 19mm down to 5.3mm, will the simat 101 lathe chuck be capable of hoding 20mm brass round bar to turn down to the largest winder of 19mm. I'll post the same questions in the questions regarding the lathe, thanks for reading my post. |

2276 forum posts 801 photos | The post below which is on MEW has a data sheet for the Simat 101 and shows that it has a 0 morse taper spindle and a 1/4" spindle bore. Only shown with a face plate. You should be able to get a suitable chuck to hold the sizes that you intend turning Edited By Paul Lousick on 20/03/2023 09:29:24 |
