Overload protection cutout switch. Push it back in if the motor doesn't turn. ??

Does one cable going to the box have the power supply plug? Does the other cable go to the motor? if so the button is probably the reset for a thermal circuit breaker to cut off the power to the motor if it draws too much current in an stall or overload situation.

If the cables are routed elsewhere I have no idea what it resets. Is there a lamp mounted integral to the drill press anywhere? could be a switch for the lamp if so. My drill press has a lamp in the housing behind the spindle and in front of the column.

There was one looking a bit like this on the contactor box on my VMB mill. Does it have a flexible silicone cap? I think it's actually an air-pressure operated emergency switch, which can be linked by a tube to some sort of bellows to link up a remote e-stop. It was one of the several bits of the contactor that gave up the ghost!

When i push it in, nothing seams to engage .

The main power comes to this box and from there it goes to the NVR, and some wires go to this switch as well. As speedy says, it could be an overload cutout switch.

Any way, soon i am going to get rid of all this and going to install a 3 phase motor with VFD with its on control box.

Thanks.

Andrew.
