17 forum posts | Hear is a software to mill gears with automatic g code generation. You need to either use a hand ground end mill two lipped to get a correct involute form, mount it on the vertical spindle. bring the cutter to the start point preferably X0 of G0 code. you can also use a std milling cutter from the side of the head head angled to suit helix angle. the distance you want to cut is after the code generation. WARNING. please dont mess with the software input window. Just input Number of teeth,, length of teeth, angle between to start face and end face.. Here is how the inputing window looks like Number of teeth. Face width Angle Between Faces
Invert rotation (FOR LH OR RH) Dont change unless you know what you are doing. Please write down the letters, correct spaces, * asteric etc. If you mess up write as original and it will work. Unfortunately in this thread there is no link to upload the simple software I have unless you email me. its on the web as Acerca de gcode_helgears Version 1.0 regards every one Vasantha |

I will leave the Eat Me/Drink Me decision to you. But I think you might search for gcode_helgears.zip MichaelG. Edited By Michael Gilligan on 31/01/2023 13:02:05 |

WARNING. please dont mess with the software input window. Just input Number of teeth,, length of teeth, angle between to start face and end face.. That does not sound ideal and will require some calculation. It's usual to just specify the helix angle not what angle is at start and finish (I assume this is the rotation of the gear blank) Length of tooth is that along the helix, again needs prior calculations. It would be better to enter the usual known helix angle and width of gear and then use the software to generate the code from that |
