Hi, I hope some can help, I have just bought a Bridgeport Series 1 Mill that is currently wired for 3ph. I am going to convert it to run via a VFD on 240v single ph. There is a plate on the electric box that states drawing number WD148D. The serial number of my machine is 315571079VX which I assume means its a 1979 model.

Does any one have a copy of this drawing or know where I could obtain one?

Any help in finding a drawing or advise on connecting a VFD would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Rick

The first thing to check is that the motor is dual voltage - 240/380 or so. as if not then conversion is not so easy. Noel.

Yep 1979 model.

I have wiring diagram WD148D in pdf format. PM me your E-Mail and will send it over.

VFD fitment is pretty simple. Basically strip all the control gear and control everything via the VFD. Preferably with a remote box.

For pump and powerfeed drive connect the transformer for 240 volt input.

You can set things up so the VFD controls are linked to the original push buttons and contactors but most folk don't bother as there is no real gain. The VFD is still direct to the motor.

Do you yet have a VFD?

If not I have a VFD and pendant box off a converted Bridgeport that I should really sell on.

Planned to use is as part of a conversion from Varispeed pulley drive to direct two speed belt drive. But the "terminally broken" level noises from the varispeed turned out to be anything but. Simple mechanical fix of an "I didn't know that could happen" type problem. Much easier than re-engineering the drive.
