Microcosm M18 Engine now running !!!!

I received this from Microcosm a year or so ago, out of the box it ran for around 15-20 seconds and I was never able to get it going again. I posted a couple of help vids on Youtube and Rodnoc (Jon) wrote me a very detailed checklist to work through and fix and try a few things. So I'm very happy to be able to post this video of finally a very well running M18, its gone from a shelf queen to a great runner....big thanks to Rodnoc!!!

Exactly the opposite to your cold water theory - as an early attempt to start it, I would have got the engine hot.

Most engines I have encountered have been easier to start while hot.

It's always satisfying when one can eventually get it running.  Well done.

I was referring to after the engine is running, how hot can these small IC engines get? They only have an O ring for a piston ring.

Yes I'm happy to get it from a paper weight to runner!

Even with steam engines, the steam is clearly over 100 degrees Celsius?smiley

Is this engine only really ‘made to look like’ an ICE - but should only be run on compressed air?

For the money it cost, I’m afraid I would expect it to run properly, while driving a small piece of equipment!

Otherwise, it’s just not fit for purpose, surely?

Of course it's an internal combustion engine and yes it would easily run a small accessory.
