Hi,

Just a quick introduction.
My name is Garry and a bit of a late starter to the world of machining. Recently retired, I have decided to pursue my latent interest with machining of all types, and have just purchased my first lathe, a used Warco GH1322.
A trawl of the Internet seemed to highlight that this is the place for like minded individuals so here I am.
I’m not entirely convinced that I haven’t already bought a pig in a poke, but more of that later.
I’m sure I’ll have lots of questions for all of you knowledgeable people so please humour some of the basic questions I’ll no doubt ask.

Welcome to the Forum, Gerry!

Let's hope the machine is in good condition, but I am sure there are plenty of Warco machine-tool owners here who'd be able to help with specific points.

Welcome!

Probably, it may still be possible to find an Operator Manual / Parts book for the lathe.

Warco may be able to help.

Even if not, someone on here will be able and willing to help if you have a query or a problem

(But be specific and accurate in what you ask. If not, you will get answers to questions that you have not asked, and none to the one that you though that you had. )

There is a HUGE range of knowledge and experience on here into which anyone can tap.

Howard

Welcome to the party ! You ask the questions on here and at least one of us will have an answer, you may get dozens of replies. Went to Redcar Tech in the 60s with the intention of working for ICI Wilton, then my parents move and I've been in Norfolk for over 50 years. Noel.

Thanks Howard,
I found a download of the original supplied manual, which at 12 pages is basic to say the least.
I also found that the exact same lathe (I think) is sold in the US by Grizzly. They too had a downloadable manual with some 100 pages and it appears to be much more comprehensive.
I’ve cleaned and degreased the lathe now, it seems to be running ok, but the lead screw and power feed rod aren’t working. I’ve drained the oil from the headstock for a better look and will keep you all briefed.
Garry
