7227 forum posts 21 photos | Monel is a high Nickel content alloy developed for use in high temperatures, such as gas turbines, so you should have no problems with creep, or corrosion in a steam loco! Have no idea how it machines! Howard |

4655 forum posts 304 photos | Monel is used a lot for tubing as it is very ductile and corrosion proof. It it quite soft, so using sharp tooling will be required. Silver coinage is a similar cupro nickel alloy. |
