Hi All, does anyone have one of these (particularly the VM series)? If so, have they proven reliable and accurate? Has service, support and spares from Amadeal been up to expectation?

Thanks and best regards, Gavin

I have a VM32L from Amadeal.

I have been happy with it over the least year or so. It is powerful (I can cut 1mm DOC in steel with a 63mm facemill) and reasonably accurate.

I say reasonably accurate as I can never tell if it is the machine or my fumbling that makes things go wrong! I can cut within a thou (0.03 mm) on a good day.

I would say that service is reasonable. In my dealings the guys at Amadeal don't have the same depth of engineering knowledge as ARC do but they are responsive to issues.

Frankly, I would expect all the machines you can buy in this country to be roughly on a par (like for like, I mean). There are only 3 or 4 suppliers in the far east for most of them. It's down to details and price.

Iain,

Was that at full width of the cutter? What was the feed rate and number of cutting tips? All important parameters.

It is a 5 or 6 tip carbide face mill from ARC. Yes full width and feed rate was probably about 2 mm / sec (that's really only a guess). Speed was around 700 / 800 rpm. I run it a bit faster (1200?) for a low DOC finishing cut.

The speed of these shell mills is according to the power you have mostly, my Ceratizit 50mm 5 insert has a max speed of 11000rpm, and if using these speeds you have to use new screws when changing the inserts, I have never bothered as one mill can do 2500rpm and the other 3000rpm.
