173 forum posts 7 photos | Hi chaps, I am part way building a B1. Now I have to boiler inlets each side of the boiler just behind the smoke box. This is of course to allow water into the boiler. So here is my question, who makes a nice 90 degree fitting for treading into the boiler bush. And the second part of the question is what would be the best copper tubing to use to run alongside the boiler. I think that this needs to be thick walled as it may get knocked and of course it needs to be straight. Who sales this type of tube. Thanks. |

![]() 2312 forum posts 112 photos | I've had some very good fittings from Stuarts, PM Model Engines and Steam Fittings UK. A lot depends on what they need to look like, being rather prominent on the sides of the boiler. Thick walled copper tubing should be no problem if not too long. The best bet would be to visit a supplier near to you, they may be able to cut pieces exactly to the length required and then you could take them home yourself. My only experience with having fragile materials delivered through the post is with some items obtained from Macclesfield models who strapped them to a piece of wood to ensure that they arrived undamaged. 1585 forum posts 1 photos | Hi Brian I have had several orders for metal from Maccmodels, using sticks of wood for stiffeners. Very well packaged goods. Joe is quick to supply and I think, reasonable prices. Purely satisfied customer and will be ordering more next year. John Edited By DMB on 16/12/2021 11:25:44 |
