Hello all, I'm looking for a new project to make but can't find any plans for the machine. I would like to make a brake press, the reason why is that around 40 years ago I was at Hastings and there was a model maker, he had a shop in town. The model maker had on display a working brake press about 4 inches in height working via a small motor, he also had other machine that worked.I remember thinking I would like to make one but at the time had no means of making it.

I've looked on the Internet for plans but I've had no success, any help will be appreciated. I have just almost finished a twin cylinder JL Sourmard design engine similar to the Stuart and runs well on the nebuliser. I fancy a change in making engines, and the brake press will be satisfying project.

Thanks Bob

There unlikely to be model-plans for brake-presses, so see if you can find operating / servicing manuals for one or two examples of the full-size presses.

Their diagrams will not only show how the presses were put together but will probably have been prepared from the workshop drawings used to build the machine so to scale, albeit possibly isometric rather than orthogonal.

Thanks Nigel, looks like the only option.

Bob,

I don't know if this will be of interest, but if you don't mind paying for some plans, you can get downloadable full-size plans from Machinery plans in Australia for AUS$25, then scale them to whatever size suits you.
