Help with Centec 2B Coolant

2 forum posts | I have a Centec 2B and I am trying to setup the coolant on it. There is a tank which hangs from the back adjacent to the drip tray cut out. I presume used coolant runs back into this tank. This tank is not very big, so any coolant pump fitted to it would soon empty it out before being replenished from the drip tray. There is a large well in the bottom of the cabinet which would hold enough coolant. I don't understand where the pump should be sited and how coolant in the back tank gets into the well in the bottom of the cabinet (if my understanding of how it works is correct)? If anyone has coolant set up on there Centec could they give me advice please. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. |

7227 forum posts 21 photos | The normal arrangement probably would be that somewhere on the table, there should be a drain hole which allows coolant to return to the tank, via a flexible hose. The coolant pump would be in the coolant reservoir and deliver to a tap and nozzle sited close to the arbor. via another flexible hose. Hopefully, in the drain system there will be a grille / gauze to prevent swarf getting into the reservoir. Howard |

1817 forum posts 2 photos | My 2B has the full size stand. There is, as you say, a large tank at the bottom of the cabinet. There is a large sheet metal top for the tank. The suds pump (in my case a Stuart Turner) Is mounted on the lid of the tank, with a pickup that goes to the bottom of the tank. The outlet goes to the machine tray and has a throttled nozzle and tap to direct the coolant to the cutter. The return is from the tray via a hole with a mesh cover, the return goes down into the tank via another cut out. I doubt if the pipe runs are original as it is done in 15mm copper pipe (would have expected 1/2" copper pipe if it were original). To be honest, I find the whole thing to be unsatisfactory. Trying to clean out the tank is a nightmare with its limited access. I intend to fit a new external combined pump and tank, for ease of maintenance. I would recommend this solution to you. Andrew. P.S. The tank at the back of the stand is non standard and a later addition. I assume a previous owner fitted it to avoid the cleaning problem with the manufacturer's tank. 7227 forum posts 21 photos | It might be worth fitting at least one baffle between the return to tank and the pump pick up. Site the first one to leave enough space to scoop out the swarf that will settle. Ideally a second, to be sure. The idea is that the first section will fill with coolant before it overflows the top of the baffle, so that swarf settles out. in the bottom Rather like a LCC petrol interceptor. Very effective, as long as cleaned out regularly. HTH Howard

Looking at the drip tray there is no holes/outlets that i can see, the only drain is the bend in the edge of drip tray formed as a gully which runs into the container fitted to the back of the cabinet. This all looks original and not created by a later owner. The container appears to hold about 8 litres of coolant and has been divided into two with the main section taking the run off and allows the swarf to settle out. There are holes about a third way up into the second section where a coolant pump would be fitted??, not sure if 8 litres is big enough with a suds pump fitted to the container.
