Added a carriage handwheel to my Clarke CL500M

130 forum posts 25 photos | For anyone that was interested in the halfnut nut conversion I did previously, I have now added a carriage handwheel to move the carriage up and down the bed once the halfnut has been disengaged. It works really well and is a bit more graceful that sliding the carriage by hand. I very quickly put together a youtube video of the mod, here's a link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0U7fZKMbmc&feature=youtu.be If anyone would like more details I do have a drawing with most of the measurements Stu |

Very nice work Stu. I should appreciate a copy of the drawing. JH Thanks John! I just need to redo the drawing as it is now covered in oil and dirt and a bit unreadable, then I'll email it to you. Stu |

1 forum posts | This is great. I came across this forum from looking at the YouTube video. I have the same CL430 lathe. The handle on the end of the leadscrew is a bit annoying and have often wondered if there was a way to improve it. I would be interested to know more about how it works, parts source and drawings. Thanks! |
