622 forum posts 24 photos | You may find your two requirements mutually excluding. However "Engineering Materials, Properties and Selection" by Kenneth Budinski published by Reston is my main source. Latest editions may be a little pricey, but there seems to be some earlier editions available at a sensible price. 6 forum posts | You could try "Metallurgy for Engineers" by E C Rollason. I still have a copy from 1964 when I did my degree and I do refer to it occasionally. There are several on ebay for not a lot of money and at least it will get you started. Good luck. Derek T
