Looking to buy a miller

14 forum posts 1 photos | Hi all, I wonder if some of you knowledgeable Guy's & Gal's on here can advise me. I am looking for a milling machine for my home work shop. I have been looking at Warco and Chester offerings, but cannot seem to find the right combination of machine. Then following the advert on this forum I went to Arceurope's site and saw the Siege millers they have for sale. The Sieg SX3.5 DZP having caught my eye. It seems to have the capacity, DRO on all 3 axis and powered X axis. Being not to familiar with the Sieg brand and Arceurope can any one advise on them. Cheers Mike |

Cheers Mike Check with ARC but I think the next batch in will be SX3.5ZP without the DRO. It was a basic DRO and ARC are working with Machine DRO who will be able to offer tailored kits to fit the Sieg machines which will be in the form of a fully functioning DRO with features like PCD, Absolute/incremental, halving etc. Me I've got 3 Sieg mills and they do what I ask of them. 141 forum posts 1 photos | Not quite sure where to put this. I have a Sieg SX2L mill. I´m in the process of adding DRO´s to the three axes. On the Z axis I have removed the vertical mm scale on the LHS of the mill to fit the DRO. The pointer for the scale is held in place by a nut and an allen / hex screw with a cylindrical end, the sort of end that would normally sit in a groove to stop a part rotating. Does this screw have any other function than holding this little silver pointer in place? I can´t see any other function from the exploded diagram of the head. In retrospect perhaps I should have started by fitting air springs and getting rid of the sprung counterbalance arm first. Dick. |
