Hi guys. I am pleased to be a member here and part of the very useful and knowledgable community.

I have a simple question.
Can anyone tell me the number of posts necessary to view the full ads in the classified section?

thank you.
Ritchie.

Hello Ritchie and welcome. What sort of things are you interested in? And it can help if you could indicate approximately where in the world you are, then if you need any face to face help, people near you will be more likely to respond. Now, that could mean 2 separate posts but don't tell anyone that I suggested it!

Welcome!

If you have any questions, some one will have the answer.

Where are you located?

Is there a Model Engineering Club near you?

Are you a member? (good midea to join if you are not already a member )

Thanks guys for the replies.
I am in Surrey and am semi retired. I grew up watching my father on his ML7 in his workshop and was hooked. I served an apprenticeship in mechanical and electronic engineering and ended that working as a service engineer repairing Royal Navy comms equipment.
I then served an apprenticeship in plumbing and heating and worked for many years as a boiler engineer but have finally managed to quit working 😀😀😀 giving me the time to play with machines. I spend my time restoring old machines and I own a Super 7, a Linley type jig borer/mill and a Denbigh pillar drill amongst other stuff.
I am in my workshop most days making things or repairing stuff. Today I have repaired a microwave oven and stripped a 6” machine vice for restoration. 40kg 😳

Hello Ritchie and welcome.

I was really interested to see you have a 'Linley' - I have had one for some 40 years now and it has done me proud for all of it - a really great machine.

I have modified mine over the years fitting a longer table, DRO and VDF drive, use it all the time and wouldn't be without it - it will follow me out of the door and not before for sure

Enjoy your time here

Regards - Ramon (Tug)

Hi Ramon. Thank you for your reply.
My table is about 600 long (I haven’t measured it)

How did you fit a longer table? Did you make it or modify an existing one?
I’m designing a power feed for the x (in my head🙄 and have a 180v dc motor running from a speed controller

I’d love a DRO too

Regards, Ritchie.

I’ve just read my last post and it sounds like I’m intending to use a 180v motor for the power feed 😳

im not, it’ll be a 24v motor 😃
