467 forum posts 60 photos | Rex, Thanks for letting us know. I had half expected it to be honest. On the bright side, more of my build should be available by 2021. But looking at it another way, I am sure that the original Rob Roy competition was to build and enter the competition within 12 months? I guess I am really slow. Phil H |

Phil H The articles ran from Jan 1961 until Dec 61 but while the rules originally stated that the closing date for entries was due to be July 1962 however it was deferred with no explanation I have found to July 1963 and again, with no explanation, the final closing date was changed to 13th July 1964. |

467 forum posts 60 photos | Nick, Thanks for that. It has made me feel slightly better. I started mine in 1977 (when I was 16) but any parts that I made then have been scrapped. I restarted and took the build seriously late last year. However, there are about 10 chapters in the book and I am now coming to the end of chapter 2. So is that about 20%ish done? Phil H |

467 forum posts 60 photos | The rescheduled Rob Roy rally was supposed to be today (I believe) so I thought I would show where I am up to. Unfortunately, not much progress but I have managed to get a few of the tricky parts out of the way i.e., machining the steel parts for the coupling and connecting rods. I just need to add the bearings and I am going to fit brass oil cups to all the 'ears' on the top of the coupling rods but the good news is that the wheels still rotate with the coupling rods fitted. The rotation is tight but smooth.

121 forum posts 3 photos | That's looking very nice Phil. It's a shame we couldn't see it in the flesh at the rally. Maybe next year! |

121 forum posts 3 photos | Hopefully, yes. Details to be decided but will be posted at some point. Sorry but there's no dedicated info page. Details will be posted here, on the Model Engineering Clearing House website, Andover and Bromsgrove society websites, and in Model Engineer and Engineering in Miniature magazines. A write up of the 2021 event will be submitted to the magazines' editors in the new year. Hope this helps |
