Did anyone catch the programme on Channel 5 this evening showing old cine film - much of it in tremendous colour - made during the VE Day celebtrations? There were two or three bits of footage of what looked like 5 inch raised track (could have been 3 1/2", not sure). I think the photographer had come from Kings Langley where most of the rest of his film was made. Did anyone recognise where the track might have been? It's such a rarey filmed subject, it was great to see.

Neil,

Yes. You can watch it on My5 (Channel 5 catchup web site) There's another program on tonight. I'm not sure if it's a repeat of last night's or a different one.

The track at the end of the program looks like a raised portable track so could be hard to place.

Di, do a search of the ME archives and R. C. L Coles gets a few mentions in photo credits and once as an author

Thanks both!

Just watched it, fascinating. Shame there was no Welsh or NI footage.

I wonder if VJ Day will get as much exposure?
