Hi

I’m rebuilding a 2J head Bridgeport, I’m re assembling the quill feed gear box, each gear is held in place by a brass bearing and two set screws. When I tighten the set screws to nipping up level of tight( any of them) the gear box seizes up. Has anyone else come across this?

It is worth noting the gears seem to tighten ever so slightly at certain positions normally.

regards

matt

Hi Mathew I was sure someone was going to answer your question but not yet. I have done most repairs on these but never having to repair this part but if you can put some photographs up it may help. Have you got the handbook and parts list as you can quote the item numbers and see where the fit. If you don't know how to upload pictures there is a help page in the forums list. Go to the top of this page to forums and website FAQ,s then how to upload pictures. Put up some more info so I can help.
