214 forum posts 207 photos | has anyone tried these for aluminium get a pack of 10 rods £13.00 thought i would give it a try all you need is a plumbers torch tried it today with 2 mm thick alloy sheet with a bit of practice it works well i turned a bit of 6 mm alloy under size built it up and turned it to 6 mm and threaded with great results i was a bit sceptical but it does work well Geoff |

1033 forum posts 2 photos | Picked some up at Harrogate show quite a few years back and eventually used them on an ally Sweet Pea saddle casting, the bloke at the foundry had been far too enthusiastic fettling them and ground away all the machining allowance, managed to build the casting back up to where it should have been and it machined beautifully, which reminds me, I really must get and finish it, only saddle tank,cab and plumbing to go! Oh nearly forgot, painting as well. |
