Hi all. I work in a school and have 2 Harrison 11" lathes I think they are the L5 model. The problem I am having is that one does not stop spinning for 4 / 5 seconds after I move the handle over to the left. I have tried tightening the clutch as per the handbook ( fully counter clockwise then back a third of a turn ) but this is not working.

I am working from a Harrison operators handbook and spare parts list book. Any thoughts please.

Regards Steve

Steve,

I don't know the model well enough, but surely you should be adjusting the brake?

Hi Steve, I have one of these lathes, (11 inch), and I think it is an updated Harrison L5A, and very much the same as the later model 140.

I think that when I last adjusted the clutch, I gave it a little more clearance than you mentioned.

Regards

Brian

If you have two machines and one works then open both up for inspection to see what differences lie within

If they are both the same it may be contamination

You have the best manual in the world, a working machine
