I want to turn some Aluminium bar using some gravers as I need to put a sphere shape on it which grade will be best for this type of turning.

It will not be a part that is under any pressure so that strength is not anything to worry about.

I have noticed that some places do not put a grade of the material on their sites so recommendations with your choice would be appreciated.

Hi.

FC1 Free cutting. These days for general stock items I use Amazon or Type in 'off cuts' on eBay.

6082 which is the old HE30 cuts OK with hand tools, one of your woodturning scrapers will be upto the job, thats what I use to cut it when doing curves

Thank you both. The bar I have looked at from Metals4u is 6082 so will order some of that.

I have some homemade gravers rather than use my woodturning tools but thank you all the same for the information Jason
