187 forum posts 46 photos | If I remember rightly the horizontal drive has bronze or oilite? bearings & the MT shaft has 2 bearings in it. 1 at the bottom which is held in place with the cover & the one at the top is held in place with a split screwed washer (the type you put a screw in so it doesn't come loose I don't know what you call them) there are no shims in there. You have to put the bearings on the shaft first and then slide the whole thing into the head. your old bearings should have numbers etched onto them so you can identify them like that if all else fails regards Paul |

Great site but still no blow up of the head their is a photo of the drawing i need lol so close but so far Hi Bob, The picture of the drawing is all I have. I managed to find it late last night. I was going to send it to you today. I replaced the bearings in my knuckle head a couple of years ago. From memory the bearings were considerable more expensive than a metric equivalent. If I had to change them again I might consider re-engineering the casting to take metric bearings. Out of interest do you have a link to the bearings you purchased? Steve. |
