Hi,

I'm a new member and have just bought my first Myford 7 lathe.

The serial number suggests it's a 1969 to 1970 model. I've just started to look at refurbishing it. I'm a press toolmaker by trade so I'm reasonably confident on rebuilding. It cuts true and sounds sweet. I'm keen not to spoil it and want to make it as original as possible. However, I've got a question before I go any further. The label / motif on the guard at the front is 45mm dia with a mainly white background. But all the labels available seem to have a mainly yellow background. Can somebody let me know the significance of this, if any.

Thanks

There may be no significance other than Myford buying a new batch of transfers! My 1965 ML7 has a transfer with a yellow background.

PS:- welcome to the forum. smiley

I've seen pics of original Myfords with the raised "Myford" lettering on the headstock hightlighted in white rather than the usual red. Maybe the white sticker matched that ? Or maybe it just faded over the years?

My 1958 S7 the raised lettering was a a cream/white, same as the centre of the bed.
