8 forum posts 1 photos | I have owned a Harrison L5 Lathe for over 30 years which has suddenly develloped a dangerous fault . The Clutch Lever Mechanism on the headstock will not engage and fall into its groove to keep the chuck rotating, I can manually locate it by pushing it in,to keep the machine running,. The problem is more dangerous when trying to STOP the machine. Any help on this issue please,.cheers Pete |

175 forum posts 3 photos | Have you checked the clutch components? Do you have the manual? If so then follow the instructions to adjust your clutch, usually just cleaning components and retensioning the spring but occasionally you will need to remove one or more of the shim washers on the shaft. Harrison state that disassembly and cleaning should be carried out at six month intervals. If you don't have the manual then buy one from Tony at Lathes etc. Nathan. |

175 forum posts 3 photos | I should have said that it can take some time to correctly adjust but that is time well spent. That same adjustment is also giving you safe braking so take your time and do it several times if needed. I could copy and PM you the relevant pages if you wish? Mine was a pig to do the first time but now is easy. Nathan.
