Spindel oil

47 forum posts	Hello all I have just started to rebuild the head stock of my new old Ebay Boley & Leinen model 83 lathe. The bearings are shot and grumbling . They appear to be oil lubricated as there is a wicking system inside the head casting. So my questions are should I fit sealed bearings or the unshielded type as original. more important perhaps is what type of oil to use. thanks in advance

Given its pedigree, one would hope that the spindle was appropriately designed and engineered. MichaelG.
