Hi

I have just started making Stephenson's Beam engine from a set of castings but have noticed there is no mention on the drawings for the steam control valve that is operated by the governor . It is clearly shown on the website **LINK** Any explanation would be gladly recieved

As supplied it is just a dummy governor and upto the builder if they want to make it work. I have seen some where a valve is mounted under the engine and others with a linkage back to a valve fitted onto the steam chest inlet, the video shows another option.

e-bay or a second hand seller is often cheaper, should be able to get a whole volume for under a fiver.

I have the whole series as a scanned PDF, but it is way too large to send as an attachment.

Most Sanderson Beam engines only have dummy governors, but I am posting some pictures of the Sanderson Beam that have working governors.

I also have the castings for this engine. I need to get some practice in on my new mill with a couple of other engines before attempting to butcher the castings. Do you intend to do a build log. If so I will be following with great interest.

I have the plans and the full set of magazines with Stan Brays build in them. I am not aware of any other build logs.
